HP recently sent out a notification about a compensation program allowing consumers to get $50 back on certain models of their printers. The reason for this is that certain printers were unable to print using ink cartridges with a non-HP chip in them due to software installed by HP on those printers.
If you purchased an eligible printer on or after the 13th of September 2016, you should be able to get $50 back on your purchase. The eligible printer models are:
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6230
- HP OfficeJet 6820
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6830
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8610
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8620
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8630
- HP OfficeJet Pro X451dw
- HP OfficeJet Pro X551dw
- HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw MFP
- HP OfficeJet Pro X576dw MFP
The offer is running between the 3rd of May 2018 to the 13th of August 2018 (which is the final date to get your claim in), so you have a fair amount of time to get your compensation. Their claim form is available online and requires you to run a Printer Status report.
