Lenovo has issued a recall of 5th generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptops built prior to November first.
You can check if your laptop is affected using this link.
There haven’t been any fires yet, but Lenovo warns the laptops literally have a screw loose. A screw left unfastened during their manufacture can damage the lithium battery and cause the cells to short out and potentially start a fire.
The fix is simple: No screw, no problem. Lenovo’s fix is to remove the unfastened screw.
